Zeeger deWilde, 93 (two days shy of his 94th birthday) of Seaford, DE formerly of Carroll County, MD passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2024 at The Manor House.

Zeeger was born in Amsterdam, Holland on October 22, 1930, son of the late Roeland deWilde and the late Geertruida Maria (Deenik) deWilde. He graduated from the Federal School of Horticulture & Agriculture and shortly thereafter had the desire to come to the United States for work. In the early 1950's it was difficult to come from Holland to the United States so he immigrated to Canada first.

While in Canada he worked at Expo 67 and Sheridan Nurseries in Montreal until he was offered a job opportunity at the Rouse Company in Columbia, MD. Zeeger had a true entrepreneurial spirit and it wasn't long before he decided to start his own company, Ecological Enterprises, Inc., a landscaping and grounds maintenance business.

Zeeger was a humble and intelligent man who spoke 4 languages and loved to give back to his community. He volunteered countless hours at the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge in Cambridge, MD and would faithfully donate platelets to the Blood Bank. He and his loving wife, Dorothy Lee Bidinger married on May 30, 1974 and were also well known for their privately-owned arboretum, Greenway Gardens. Zeeger was most proud of becoming an American Citizen on October 13, 1989.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Lee deWilde in 2022 and a brother, Roeland DeWilde. Zeeger is survived by his two stepdaughters, Wendy Yelton and Linda Brumit and two step grandchildren, Christina McCormick and Jaime Grimes.

A celebration of Zeeger's life will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at The Manor House, Perdue Chapel, 1001 Middleford Rd., Seaford, DE 19973.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Zeeger's name to the American Red Cross or the Hearing Loss Association of America.
