William Richard "Dick" Bittner, age 82 of Millsboro, Delaware, passed away on June 28, 2024 at his residence.

Born on March 24, 1942 in Baltimore, MD to the late John Francis Bittner, Sr. and Grace Naomi (Brown) Bittner, Dick was a long-time Maryland resident until he relocated to Delaware 20 years ago.  Dick graduated from Loyola College in Baltimore, MD in 1967 with a degree in History and had a career in sales prior to his retirement.

Known as a fierce patriot with a deep love for his country, history and the Civil War, Dick was a family man at heart, spending time with his wife and two sons traveling, reading or just sitting on his front porch watching the world go by.  Dick was a parishioner for over 50 years at St. Ignatius R.C. Church in Hickory, MD and a parishioner at Mary Mother of Peace R.C. Church in Millsboro, DE.

Dick is preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Rita Clare Bittner (nee Voran), along with their children, Stephen Bittner (Kelly) of Street, MD and Andrew Bittner (Mandy) of Bel Air, MD.  Dick also leaves behind his grandchildren, Rachel, Tyler, Greg and Colin, along with his siblings, Francis Raab, Joseph Bittner, John F. Bittner Jr. and Mary Carole Beers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday July 15, 2024 at 10:30am at the St. Ignatius R.C. Church located at 533 E. Jarrettsville Rd., Forest Hill, MD.  Inurnment will immediately follow at the adjoining church cemetery.  A memorial service will take place in Delaware at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in Dick's honor to the following organizations, Tunnel to Towers or the Alzheimer's Association.
