William (Bill) John Brabitz, 77, of Selbyville, Delaware, died peacefully on December 13, 2024 surrounded with love and family.

William was born in Melbourne, Florida on April 29, 1947. He proudly served in the United States Air Force for 4 years, and worked for the Bureau of Engraving and Printing in Washington, D.C. for 43 years. In retirement, William served as a volunteer at the Roxana Volunteer Fire Company in Delaware for ten years.

William was married to Meg Brabitz on July 3, 1969, and were married 55 years. William is survived by his wife, Meg; children, Christopher Brabitz and spouse Alicia, Alicia Holcombe and spouse Matt, Jeffery Brabitz and spouse Aly, Kate Scanlon and spouse Terry, and Vickie Smith and spouse Todd; grandchildren, Allie, Marissa, Anderson, Lance, Bodhi, Josie, Jade, and Cole. He is also survived by his brother, Lee Brabitz. William was preceded in death by his parents, Doris and Ray Brabitz; brother, Mark Brabitz; and granddaughter, Kailee Brabitz.

As a son, husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many, Bill had many loves in his life, with his family at the top. He took time for others, had a caring heart, and was an advocate and champion for keeping people safe. He loved sci-fi, history, and tinkering about the house. Bill loved to tell a joke, be entertained, and never met a home improvement project he couldn't do.

A Celebration of Life will be held on March 1, 2025, from 1:00 – 3:00 PM at the Roxana Fire Station located at 35943 Zion Church Rd, Frankford, DE 19945. Friends, family, and colleagues are welcome to honor Bill's memory and legacy.
