Virginia "Ginger" L. Collins, age 85, of Selbyville, Delaware, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.

Born in Washington, D.C. on May 30, 1940, Ginger was the daughter of the late James Lynard and Mary Eileen (Dixon) Lynard. She dedicated 28 years of service to the Federal Government where she was known for her strong work ethic and commitment.

Ginger had a vibrant spirit and truly enjoyed life's simple pleasures. She loved shopping, traveling, bowling, golfing, spending time with family and was a faithful member of Fenwick Island Baptist Church.  Ginger treasured the many friendships she formed in the Swann Estates community, where she especially enjoyed playing cards and Bunco.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Hubert P. Collins and her brother, James "Gus" Lynard.

She is lovingly remembered by her children, Gary Collins (Sherri) of York, Pennsylvania, and Marcie Collins (Frank) of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; five grandchildren, Rachael McCauley (Barry), Jonathan Collins, Justin Collins, Nicholas Collins (Kirby), and Brooke Collins; four great-grandchildren, Riley, Brannock, Lorcan, and Wynnie; her brother, Melvin "Dick" Lynard (Pat); her sister-in-law, Barbara Lynard and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her loving companion of nearly 20 years, Joseph Ewers.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at the Ocean View Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 38040 Muddy Neck Road, Ocean View, Delaware 19970. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m.  A reception will follow at the Elks Lodge, 13708 Sinepuxent Avenue, Ocean City, Maryland 21842.  Interment will be held privately at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro, Delaware.

Ginger will be remembered for her warmth, her devotion to family, and the joy she brought to all who knew her.
