Veda Jeanne Smith, age 73 of Frankford, DE, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 8, 2025, in the company of her family. Jeanne, as she was affectionately known to family and friends, was born February 24, 1952, in Baltimore, MD to the late James and Joyce Pescetto.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers: Giovani, Anthony, and James.

She is survived by her devoted husband Charlie (Chuck), her sons Jason and Trevor, her brothers Jeffrey and Joseph, and her sister Joanna. She was a beloved aunt to 12 nieces and nephews, as well as a doting great aunt to 14 nieces and nephews.

Jeanne grew up in Westview, MD, where at the age of 13 she met the love of her life at a local teen center. Chuck and Jeanne began dating a year later, eventually marrying after 5 years of courtship, and would have celebrated 54 years of marriage this August. In her early years, Jeanne worked for a bank in downtown Baltimore City. Following the birth of her sons, Jeanne shifted her focus to raising her sons and celebrating their successes as they grew to be men. Later in life, she became a para educator for Baltimore County Public Schools until retirement. Jeanne was a social butterfly who cherished social gatherings of any sort, particularly holiday and milestone celebrations with her extended family. She was a fervent enjoyer of cruises, travel, and shopping trips, often exploring thrift stores for unique finds to liven up her home.

Upon retirement, Jeanne achieved her long held dream of moving to the beach. Practically before unpacking, Jeanne's affable and gregarious spirit found her at the center of a new network of trusted friends and neighbors. She became a devoted member of the Parish of St. Ann's in Bethany Beach, DE and committed herself to attending the Sea Colony in Bethany during the offseason for exercise, recovery, and relaxation with friends.

While Jeanne's family grieves her loss, they choose to remember her in a way that honors her spirit. The family will hold a Celebration of Life Ceremony at St. Ann's Church, Bethany Beach, DE, on 12 September at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
