Theobald "Ted" Martin Schlegel, IV, age 89, of Lewes, DE formerly of Reading, PA went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 8, 2024.

Ted was born in Reading, PA on May 11, 1934 son of the late Theobald Martin Schlegel, III and the late Pearl (Young) Schlegel.  He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps at the end of the Korean War and also played the trumpet in the Marine Corps band.

Mr. Schlegel owned and operated his own construction company in Reading, PA for over 20 years, TM Schlegel Construction Company.  After moving to Delaware in the early 1980's, he owned Ted's Military Surplus at the Millsboro Shopping Center and the Midway Shopping Center before becoming an all-online business until his retirement in 2009.  Ted was a member of East Gate Presbyterian Church in Millsboro, a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #28 and the Georgetown-Ellendale VFW Post #2931.

Ted is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Wilma L. (Johnson) Schlegel; four children, Debra Lynn Campbell and her husband, Richard, Theobald Martin Schlegel, V and his wife, Darlene, William S. Schlegel and his wife, Mildred and Samuel Richard Schlegel and his wife, Judy; a sister, Janet Higgins and her husband, Bernie; 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren

A celebration of Ted's life will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at East Gate Presbyterian Church, 34806 Church Lane, Millsboro, DE 19966.  Interment will be held at 11 AM on Monday, February 19, 2024 at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro, DE.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Ted's name to East Gate Presbyterian Church at the above address.
