Shirley Ruth (Dilione) Plunkett, age 89, of Millsboro, DE passed away peacefully at home amongst her family on Sunday, August 6, 2023. She was born in Long Branch, NJ on July 3, 1934 to the late Charles and Matilda Dilione.

Shirley split her life into thirds, one third in Sea Bright NJ, one third in Rockville, MD and one third in Millsboro, DE.

She was a progressive mother who worked as financial advisor while raising four children. She instilled valuable work ethics in her children and grandchildren.

Shirley was a sports enthusiast and took pleasure in coaching and rooting her children on in their endeavors. She was an awesome cook and took delight in feeding and entertaining all who were able to enjoy her hospitality.

Most of all, on display always was her steadfast faith and devotion to God.

She is proceeded in death by her husband Frank T. Plunkett. She is survived by her son Bruce Plunkett (Jeanne O'Meara), her daughters: Beverley Parker and her husband Charles, Holly Bellingham and her husband Jay and Joy Spain. Her six grandchildren: Julie (Billy), Jason, Karly (Khang), Shane, Haley (Taylor) and Riley and her five great grandchildren: Lukas, Hunter, Weston, Kaden and Jax.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Long Neck Methodist Church, 32051 Long Neck Road, Millsboro, DE. Pastor Bruce Rogers will be officiating.
