Sandra “Sandy” Murphy, a devoted wife, nurturing mother, and beloved grandmother passed away peacefully with her family by her side on June 6, 2026, at the age of 77.

Born in Wilmington, Delaware on April 8, 1949, Sandy was the cherished daughter of Dorothy Jeandell and Frank Jeandell Jr. She is preceded in death by her parents and her beloved sister Nancy Jeandell.

Sandy’s life was a testament of love, laughter, and lifelong learning. On June 3, 1972, she married the love of her life, Andrew J. Murphy. Together they celebrated 54 beautiful years of marriage, marked by unwavering support, shared dreams, overseas adventures, and countless treasured memories. Sandy and Andy built a home rich in love and laughter as they raised their four children together. Her children were her pride and joy, and she dedicated her life to nurturing them with warmth and humor.

Sandy is survived by her loving husband, Andrew J. Murphy; her children Heather Murphy, Allison Murphy Daggitt (William M. Daggitt Jr.), Shannon Murphy Glass (Scott H. Glass), and Michael J. Murphy; her grandchildren, Abigail Daggitt, Ella Daggitt, Graham Glass, and Emery Glass; and her brothers, Kenneth Jeandell and Frank Jeandell III.

A proud graduate of the University of Delaware, Sandy earned both her B.S. in Education and her Master of Education. She pursued her passion for teaching through a distinguished career as a Special Education teacher, an elementary classroom teacher, and a Gifted Education teacher. Her journey brought her to schools in Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Massachusetts, and Shanghai, China. Sandy touched countless lives with her patience and kindness, and an innate ability to bring out the best in her students.

Her warm smile and infectious sense of humor left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Sandy was an active member of Saint Luke’s Catholic Church in Ocean City, Maryland, where her faith and compassion were evident through her service as a catechist and an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion. Her presence was a source of comfort and inspiration to her community.

In her leisure time, Sandy found joy in creativity and connection. She was an avid watercolor artist and a proud member of the Art League of Ocean City. She also enjoyed her time with her garden club and book club in her local community.

Sandy’s legacy lives on in the hearts of her four adored grandchildren. She cherished every moment spent with them, creating lasting memories at the beach filled with laughter, love, and the occasional watercolor lesson.

As we celebrate Sandy’s life, we remember her for the incredible woman she was, an embodiment of grace, kindness, love, and joy. Her spirit will continue to shine in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 16th at 12:00 PM at Saint Luke’s Catholic Church with Reverend Paul F. Jennings officiating, 9903 Coastal Highway, Ocean City, Maryland. Burial to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 32112 Vines Creek Road, Dagsboro, Delaware. A celebration of life reception to follow at Knights of Columbus 9901 Coastal Highway, Ocean City, Maryland.
