Ronald A. Zendler, 84, of Milton, Delaware, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 28, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family in the comfort of his home.

Born on August 18, 1941, in the Bronx, New York, Ron was the son of the late Norman Henry Zendler, Sr. and Anna Rita (Carter) Zendler. From an early age, he exemplified the values of duty, perseverance, and quiet strength that would define his life.

Ron proudly served his country in the United States Navy for 20 years, including during the Vietnam War, before retiring from military service. His dedication to service reflected his deep sense of honor and commitment to others.

Following his military career, Ron began a second career with Advance Auto Parts in Dover, Delaware, where he worked in the warehouse for 26 years. He was also a proud member of the Greenville VFW Memorial Post 3175 in Port Jervis, New York, maintaining lifelong friendships with fellow veterans and continuing his commitment to those who had served.

A devoted New York Yankees fan, Ron rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his favorite team. He also found great enjoyment in reading turn-of-the-century European crime novels, appreciating the intrigue, history, and craftsmanship of the stories. Whether enjoying a good book, following a Yankees game, or spending time with those he loved, Ron found happiness in life's simple pleasures.

In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lillian Mae Zendler, in 2025, and his brother, John Zendler.

Ron leaves behind his brother, Norman Zendler; his sister, Barbara Zendler Bauer (Steve); his son, Michael Zendler (Lucy); his cherished granddaughter, Taylor Zendler; his stepdaughters, Dottie Stinson and Dawn Settine (Rick); and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Ron will be remembered for his unwavering sense of duty, quiet kindness, steadfast work ethic, and enduring love for his family. His life was one of service, loyalty, and devotion, and his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love him.

A visitation will be held from 12 to 1 PM on Sunday, July 19, 2026 at the Long Neck Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 32013 Long Neck Rd., Millsboro, DE 19966, where a celebration of Ron’s life will begin at 1 PM.
