Ronald R. Godwin

Ronald R. Godwin, age 81, of Selbyville, DE, passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at Berlin Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Berlin, MD.

Ronald was born on November 4, 1944, the son of the late Robert W. Godwin and the late Pearl E. (Lynch) Godwin.

Ronald enjoyed many of the simple pleasures in life. Before his health issues began to slow him down, he especially enjoyed spending Friday evenings each fall at Indian River football games. He was also a fan of NASCAR and horseracing and enjoyed attending church services at Frankford Community Church. Ronald appreciated opportunities to socialize, visit with others, and enjoy the activities and traditions that brought him pleasure.

In addition to his parents, Ronald was preceded in death by his partner of 28 years, Phyllis Lecates.

Ronald is survived by his three children, Robert, Susan, and Donna. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Pamela Lecates, Ashley Lecates, Lennie Lecates, Michael Lecates, Richard Lecates, Shelly Stevens, and Kevin Rine, and thirteen step-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 10 AM to 11 AM on Wednesday, October 28, 2026 at the Frankford Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 43 Thatcher St., Frankford, DE 19945, where a funeral service will begin at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Carey’s Cemetery in Frankford, DE.
