Robert “Bob” M. Worrell, age 84, of Millsboro, DE, formerly of Aston, PA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes, DE.

Bob was born on February 7, 1942, in Bryn Mawr, PA, the son of the late Mitchell Pratt Worrell and the late Helen Pauline (Barr) Worrell. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1960 to 1964, working as a grounds crewman for Air Force One during the terms of Presidents John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson.

Following his honorable discharge from the military, Bob worked as a plumber before beginning a career in operations at Sun Oil Refinery in Marcus Hook, PA, where he remained until his retirement.

Bob enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. He loved boating, crabbing, and hunting, and he had a special passion for antique tow trucks. He was also happiest when he was working with his hands, especially fixing cars and figuring out how to make things work. There was rarely a problem he wouldn’t try to solve.

Bob’s commitment to serving others continued long after his military service. He was a proud member of American Legion Post #28, where he served as a former 3rd Vice Commander. He also took great pride in being in charge of the post’s van program, helping transport fellow veterans to the Veterans Hospital in Elsmere. His dedication to his fellow veterans was a reflection of his generous heart and his belief in looking out for those who had served alongside him.

Bob will be remembered as a hardworking, dependable, and caring man who was always willing to lend a hand. He was proud of his family and treasured the time he spent with the people he loved. His life was defined not only by his service to his country and community, but by the relationships he built and the memories he created along the way.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Worrell, and his sister, Shirley Heit.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Laura (Dennis) Worrell; his son, Christopher Worrell and his partner, Connie, of Ohio; two stepchildren, Michele Kane of Aston, PA, and Arthur Kane of Aston, PA; his grandson, Robert “R.C.” Worrell and his wife, Audrey; and his sister, Helen Reynolds of Linwood, PA.

Bob will be deeply missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, extended family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. His family is grateful for the many years they were blessed to share with him and for the love, memories, and lessons he leaves behind. Though his absence will be deeply felt, his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

A service will be held at 11 AM on October 6, 2026 at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE 19966.
