Robert C. Rickrode, age 84, of Millsboro, DE, passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2026, in the comfort of his own home.

Bob was born in Hanover, PA, on March 13, 1942, son of the late Robert Henry Rickrode and the late Arlene Mary (Smith) Rickrode. Following his graduation from Delone Catholic High School, he proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

After his military service, Bob built a life centered around hard work and craftsmanship. He was a contractor and the proud owner and operator of Broad Oaks Construction, where he spent many years framing homes throughout Sussex County. Bob took great pride in his work, and his skill, dedication, and strong work ethic can be seen in the many homes he helped build throughout the community. He was a man who believed in working hard, doing a job right, and taking pride in what he accomplished with his own hands.

Truthfully, Bob’s life revolved around three things: his work, fishing, and enjoying an occasional adult beverage. He was happiest when he was busy, whether he was on a job site, out fishing, or simply enjoying time in his own way.

He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Rebecca “Becky” S. (Topper) Rickrode; three sons, Jeremiah “Bo” Griffith and his wife, Marie, of Georgetown, DE; Joshua “Clay” Griffith and his wife, Amber McCabe, of Lincoln, DE; and Robert Rickrode of Millsboro, DE; two sisters, Joan Cole and Donna Smith, both of Pennsylvania; and five grandchildren, Mike Dorman, Autumn Griffith, Levi Griffith, Josh Griffith, and Rorie Rickrode.

Services and burial are private.
