Robert Joseph Kemp, 59, of Ocean View, DE, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 after a valiant battle with cancer. Born on December 22, 1964 at Georgetown Hospital in Washington, DC, he was the son of Joan C. Kemp and the late Joseph M. Kemp. Bob attended Northwestern High School in Hyattsville, MD and graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Maryland, where he was also the president of the university's chapter of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.  He then relocated to California to pursue his dream of a career in acting.  During his time there, Bob studied Music Theater and Dance at the American Conservatory Theater and starred in a number of performances in San Francisco and Los Angeles, including a stint on the hit series, "Baywatch".  Most importantly, Bob made a number of lifelong friends along the way whose companionship he cherished.

His journey eventually brought him back to the East Coast, where he continued his acting career at Dickens Parlour Theatre.  He also starred in television and radio commercials for the car dealership for which he worked.  In doing so, Bob became a local celebrity, recognized wherever he went for his signature "Guaranteed!" tagline.  Most of all, though, Bob will be remembered for his easy smile, contagious laugh, zest for life, and incredible sense of humor.  He was devoted to his family and friends, never missing an opportunity to show kindness or compassion to another.  He was the brightest light in any room he entered and made those around him feel immediately at ease.  Bob truly never met a stranger and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his beloved mother, Joan, his brothers Steve (and wife Pam), Joe, Mike (and wife Wanda), and his sister Cathy.  He is also survived by eight nieces and nephews, eight great nieces and nephews, and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph.

Visitors will be received on Tuesday, February 20 from 5-7 p.m. at Melson's Funeral Home (38040 Muddy Neck Rd., Ocean View, DE 19970) and on Wednesday, February 21 from 10-11 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church (35318 Church Rd., Frankford, DE 19945). A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 21, with interment immediately after Mass at Gate of Heaven Cemetery (32112 Vines Creek Rd., Dagsboro, DE 19939).  A Celebration of Life reception will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Cripple Creek Golf & Country Club (29494 Cripple Creek Rd., Dagsboro, DE 19939).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions may be made in Bob's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
