George "Rick" Chamberlin of Dagsboro, Delaware, passed away surrounded by his family on December 1st, 2025.

Rick was born on October 15th, 1953, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Josephine and Jim Chamberlin. In 1965, he visited Bethany Beach and stayed to live with his step-mother, Mary Nelson, who played a significant role in his life. He graduated from Indian River High School in 1971 and went on to Delaware Tech, where he earned his Associate's Degree.

Rick is survived by his wife, Shelly, of 39 years; his children, Molly Lundy (Jordan), Robbie Robinson (Cara), and Megan Robinson (Aaron); his six grandchildren, Tyler Moore, Kaylee Moore, Brayden Robinson, Cole Robinson, Allie Robinson, and Kendall Lundy; and his siblings, Denise Hickman—deceased (Bruce), Paul Schwartzkopf (Lori—deceased), Pete Schwartzkopf (Carol), Jon Vandegrift, Maria Higgins (Danny), Chris Chamberlin (Melanie) and Several Nieces and nephews who he adored.

Throughout Rick's life, every job he pursued centered on helping others. He served as a State Trooper for 25 years, retiring as a Lieutenant in 2005. He then worked for the Children's Advocacy Center, supporting children who experienced trauma, and later helped formerly incarcerated individuals rebuild their lives through The Way Home Program. He also worked as a constable at Selbyville Middle School. He helped establish the girls' travel soccer program at River Soccer Club and advocated for Bermuda fields at Indian River High School. In more recent years, Rick was passionate about his role as founder and president of the Delaware Environmental Coalition, a non-profit whose mission is to protect and restore Delaware's coastlines.

Rick's passions included spending time with his family, going to the drive-on beach, working out at the gym, helping his daughter Molly coach soccer, playing in the Old Timers Softball League, advocating for oyster restoration, and cheering on his Philadelphia sports teams, especially the Eagles.

A funeral service will be held on December 11th at Melson's Funeral Home in Ocean View. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., with the service to follow at noon.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Delaware Environmental Coalition Inc. or the Children's Advocacy Center of Delaware.
