Richard "Rick" P. Leach, age 77, of Dagsboro, DE formerly of Pittsfield, VT passed away on Monday, June 24, 2024 at Atlantic Shores Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Millsboro, DE.

Rick was born in Mineola, NY on June 25, 1946 son of the late Paul Joseph Leach and Anne Mary (Crowley) Leach.  He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and was awarded three Purple Hearts.

Rick retired as a construction supervisor with Engleberth Construction in Essex, VT.  He served on the Bay Colony Architectural Review Committee with over 10 years.  Rick was a member of the Marine Corps League, the Indian River Senior Golf League, the Purple Heart Society and was a certified PSIA Ski Instructor.  He was a talented woodworker, enjoyed making furniture, and he loved to ski and spend time out on the water in his boat.  Rick also loved his fireplace and enjoyed splitting firewood and making fires.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Kathleen Powers.  He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Patricia A. (Mahoney) Leach; two sons, Richard Leach, Jr. and his wife, Linda of Selbyville, DE and Michael Daniel Leach of Flemington, NJ and four grandchildren, Casey Wren and her husband, Doug of Clarksville, MD, Jamison Leach of Lebanon, PA, and Samuel and Jackson Leach both of Flemington, NJ.

A celebration of Rick's life will be held at 1 PM on Friday, July 12, 2024 at the Ocean View Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 38040 Muddy Neck Rd., Ocean View, DE 19970, where friends and family may gather after 12 noon.  Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Rick's name to the Brandywine Valley SPCA or Special Olympics .
