Richard "Richie" Martin Allen, age 69, of Ocean View, DE, formerly of Clifton, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at his home.

Richie was born in Passaic, NJ, on December 14, 1956, the son of the late Donald Allen and Jean (Nieradka) Allen. He was a graduate of Clifton High School and was later accepted to and attended The Juilliard School in New York, where he developed his talents as an artist and photographer.

Richie began his working career in the construction field, where he worked as a core driller for King Concrete until he became disabled due to a serious back injury sustained on the job. He remained a gifted sketch artist and photographer throughout his life, creating many beautiful works of art.

Richie had a unique sense of humor and enjoyed the simple things in life, from riding his bike to spending countless hours walking the boardwalks of Ocean City and Bethany Beach. He had a deep love of vinyl music, nature and could often be found faithfully feeding and watching squirrels, deer, raccoons, and foxes. Above all, Richie cherished time spent with his family—especially his grandchildren—and loved visiting the go-carts and playing games in the arcade's in Ocean City, MD, where countless memories were made.

In addition to his parents, Richie was preceded in death by his brother, Donnie Allen, and his sister, Lori Allen.

He is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Doreen (Dorreman) Allen; his three daughters, Crystal Lima and her husband, Daniel, of Bloomfield, NJ; Carissa Olsen and her husband, Ryan, of Kearny, NJ; and Cassandra Fernandez and her husband, Hector, of Chester Springs, PA; nine grandchildren; and two nieces, Jess Wickliffe and her husband, Jeff, of PA, and Cheyenne Borden and her husband, Eric, of NJ.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Monday, April 20, 2026, at the Ocean View Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 38040 Muddy Neck Rd., Ocean View, DE 19970. A celebration of Richie's life will begin at 11:00 AM.
