Ramona W. "Mona" Burns, 71, of Ocean View, DE, passed away peacefully at her home on July 20, 2026.

Mona was born January 2, 1955 and was raised in Pleasant Hills, PA, by her parents Robert J. and Mary J. (Murphy) Walther, who have preceded her in death.

She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School, and then majored in business at Community College of Allegheny County. After starting her career in Chicago, she moved back to the Pittsburgh area and worked in the accounting department at The Daily News in McKeesport, PA for 23 years. She then worked for her brother at RJW Hired Hands for many years before finally retiring for good.

While at the Daily News, she met her husband Patrick R. Burns. In 42 years of marriage, they built a life filled with travel, family and lasting friendships.

After they both retired, they moved to northwestern PA, before eventually settling in Ocean View, which is near where her parents were raised.

Mona was active in her home church of Community Lutheran in Frankford, DE where she spearheaded the food bank program.

Mona is survived by her beloved husband Pat, her brothers Robin (Marianne) and Dan, and her sister Joanne (John), who was her primary caregiver. She will be missed by her niece and godchild Rose and her daughters Gracie and Sabrina, nephew Rob (Bre) and his children James and Quinn, stepchildren Tom (Holly), Laura, Sandy (Kaz), and six grandchildren. 

A service to celebrate Mona’s life will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at the Community Lutheran Church, 30897 Omar Rd., Frankford, DE 19945.

A second memorial service will be held on Saturday August 8, 2026, at 11am at Christ United Methodist Church, 44 Highland Rd, Bethel Park, PA.
