Rachel Vera Barry, 63, of Frankford, DE, and formerly of Columbia, MD, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, surrounded by her loving family in the comfort of her own home.

Born on June 27, 1962, in Cheverly, MD, Rachel was the cherished daughter of the late Courtney Eric Barry and the late Joyce Marie (Bicker) Barry. Throughout her life, Rachel exuded a zest for living, always seeking new adventures and embracing the beauty of the world around her.

Rachel's love for travel led her to her dream job as a flight attendant with American Airlines, where she made countless memories and formed lasting friendships. Her passion for exploring new places, combined with her warmth and curiosity, made her a natural in connecting with people from all walks of life.

More than just a traveler, Rachel found joy in life's simplest pleasures. Whether basking in the sun in her backyard or enjoying the serenity of the beach, she valued the peace and tranquility that nature brought her. Her devotion to animals was a cornerstone of her character, as she shared a deep connection with her furry companions and cared deeply for the creatures of the world.

Rachel will be remembered for her loving heart, her infectious spirit, and her ability to make those around her feel seen and valued. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and a reminder to live life to the fullest.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Dustin Reed Higbie.  Rachel is survived by her loving husband, James T. Givens; a son, Jeremy Owen Higbie; a stepdaughter, Sarah Ann Givens-Demore and her husband, Mark; two sisters, Leslie Barry and her husband, Armando Viegas and Julie Bentz and a brother, C. Eric Barry.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations be made in her honor to Delaware Hospice .
