Patrick Kevin Walsh (1942-2024), beloved husband of 44 years to Denise Yvette Levitine, passed on July 27, 2024 at Delaware Hospice after 11 years of retirement living in Ocean View, Delaware. Pat was born to Jean and Edward Walsh on May 24, 1942 and raised in Silver Spring, Maryland. He was preceded in death by his brother Dennis Walsh and sister Mary Walsh; and is survived by his brother Michael Walsh (Mary Anne), sister Peggy May (Ray), daughters Sue Hopewell (Richard) and Sharon Blackstock, sons Darin Walsh (Jennifer) and Ted Levitine-Walsh (Danielle), and grandchildren Patrick, Brad, Adam, Dylan, Kate, and Elena.

Before moving to Ocean View, Pat was a beloved citizen of the town of Laurel, Maryland where he was known as "Mr. Main Street." Despite an inability to type or to stomach coffee, he owned a typewriter sales and repair shop and then, with Denise, he was the owner of a very popular coffee shop. His coffee shop was described as "Something Special." It was the Floyd's Barbershop of Laurel where you could rub elbows with everyone from local law enforcement to politicians to celebrities to NFL executives! During his decades on Main Street, he was instrumental in organizing the Main Street Festival, serving once as Grand Marshall. He was a member of the Civitan Club and a co-founder of the landlocked Laurel Yacht Club, where he was described as PIERless. If you didn't see him on Main Street, you could always catch his alter-ego, Biff Niedamier, on Laurel Cable Access. After selling his business, rather than retire, he joined the Laurel police auxiliary and was a code enforcement officer where he went from playing the role of Floyd the Barber to Barney Fife.

Upon retirement, despite his commitment to avoiding all things associated with sand, sun, and surf, Pat moved to the Delaware Shore out of an abundance of love for Denise. Pat was an active part of the Southampton Community, where he was an important part of the Social Committee and a member of the Southampton ROMEOs (Retired Old Men Eating Out). Pat's semi-private Bourbon bar was a popular local watering hole, often imitated but never duplicated. It was a place where stories and laughter were shared over your drink of choice, but it had better be bourbon!

If you ever had the opportunity to join him for a backpacking trip, we hope you remembered to pack your umbrella! Even though you were miserable and wet, you could be sure you'd be forced to relive the moment over and over as he, no doubt, captured it on film. If he wasn't photographing out in nature, you might run into him at French Quarter Fest in NOLA where he was an official photographer, or capturing lighthouses in Maine and cityscapes in Paris. And, if you were really, really lucky, and Pat"Trick" The Magician made an appearance, you had a quarter pulled out of your ear. Somehow everything Pat did had a way of being magical.

He was humble, kind, funny and resilient. He was loved by everyone who knew him and will be missed. His family and his community will mourn his loss, but it will take years to drink all the bourbon he left behind!
