Patrick F. McCarthy, Sr., age 84, of Harbeson, DE formerly of Pelham, NY passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2024 at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes, DE.

Mr. McCarthy was born in Manhattan, NY on September 21, 1939 son of the late John McCarthy and Margaret (Doherty) McCarthy.  He proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard.  Patrick retired in 1996 from the Pelham Union Free School District with over 30 years of service.

Patrick was a faithful parishioner at Mary Mother of Peace Catholic Church in Millsboro, DE.  He was a model builder enthusiast of ships and planes, enjoyed traveling and was proud of his Irish heritage.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life, Eileen M. McCarthy in 2010.  He is survived by his six children, Anne Marie Pavone and her husband, Anthony of New Rochelle, NY, Patrick F. McCarthy, Jr. of Mechanicsburg, PA, Carol Buchanan and her husband, Phil of Fair Haven, NJ, John J. McCarthy of Pelham, NY Gerald C. McCarthy and his wife, Lisa of Mahopac, NY and Joseph P. McCarthy and his wife, Janine of Eastchester, NY; 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

A viewing will be held from 4-7 PM on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at the Long Neck Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 32013 Long Neck Rd., Millsboro, DE, where a prayer service will begin at 6:30 PM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at Mary Mother of Peace Catholic Church, 30839 Mt. Joy Rd., Millsboro, DE 19966, where the eulogy will begin promptly at 10:45 AM.  Interment will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro, DE 19966.
