Patricia E. Bunting, 77, of Dagsboro, DE, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, in the comfort of her home.

Born in Whaleyville, MD on February 2, 1948, Pat was the daughter of the late Chester W. Hitchens and the late Edna M. (Dukes) Hitchens. She attended John M. Clayton High School in Frankford, DE.

Pat began her career as an assembler and final inspector for the National Cash Register Company in Millsboro, De, where she worked for several years before the company relocated. She later worked alongside her husband in their family business, Bunting's Auto Repair in Frankford, serving as both bookkeeper and mechanic.

Known for her strong work ethic and outgoing personality, Pat never shied away from a challenge. She was deeply dedicated to her community, serving for 30 years with the Frankford Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary, and was also a proud member of the American Legion Auxiliary Pos 24 in Dagsboro, De.

Pat enjoyed camping with her family and friends, attending antique tractor shows, and visiting the Amish auctions in Dover. Above all, she treasured the time spent with her loved ones.

In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her beloved granddaughter, Karla Alexis Bunting. She is survived by her devoted husband of 59 years, Randall P. Bunting; her daughter, Kelly A. Townsend and her husband, Marvin, of Frankford, DE; her brother, Vincent W. Hitchens and his wife, Nancy, of Frankford, DE; her niece, Amanda B. Desmond and her husband, Paul and children, of Pittsville, MD; and her nephew, Brian V. Hitchens, his wife, Jen and son, of Dagsboro, DE.

A visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at the Frankford Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 43 Thatcher Street, Frankford, DE 19945, where the funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow at Dagsboro Redmen Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Frankford Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary, P.O. Box 333, Frankford, DE 19945.
