In Loving Memory Oscar W. Clair III

June 7, 1946 – May 22, 2026

Oscar W. Clair III, lovingly known as “Oscar” to family and friends, passed peacefully on May 22, 2026, at the age of 79. A quiet and steady man of faith, strength, and deep devotion to his family, Oscar leaves behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and treasured memories.

Oscar was born on June 7, 1946. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1964 to 1967, including time spent in Korea during the Vietnam conflict. Though he rarely sought attention or recognition, his service reflected the same quiet dedication and humility that defined his life.

On August 10, 1968, Oscar married the love of his life, Barbara A. Clair. Together they built a strong and loving family over nearly six decades of marriage. He was the devoted father of Joseph T. Clair, who preceded him in death on February 23, 2023, and Eric W. Clair and wife Carrie A. Clair. Oscar was also a proud grandfather of four and great-grandfather of three, each of whom brought him immense joy.

Oscar worked for Roadway Express for 33 years and retired as a proud Teamster. He believed in hard work, dedication, and providing for his family, carrying those values with him throughout his life.

Oscar dearly loved spending time with his family. Whether gathered around bluegrass jam sessions where he occasionally played the spoons, relaxing at the family cabin, or enjoying quiet evenings together, those moments meant the world to him. He found happiness in simple pleasures — fishing, metal detecting along the beach in search of lost treasures, watching old western movies, and riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Though stories from his younger and more rebellious riding days remained mostly a mystery to his children, they always knew the adventurous spirit was there.

He especially treasured taking “walks” on the golf cart with his faithful canine companion, Lucy.

In his later years, Oscar spent much of his quiet time strengthening his faith through reading the Bible and growing closer to the Lord. In his final days, he found peace and comfort in knowing where his eternity would be spent — with the Lord and Savior he faithfully trusted.

Oscar will be remembered for his gentle spirit, unwavering love for family, quiet wisdom, hardworking nature, and steadfast faith. Though he spoke softly, his life spoke volumes.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.

Celebration of Life will be at 1pm on July 18, 2026. Visitation starting at 12pm at the Millville United Methodist Church in Millville Delaware.
