Michael V. Phillips, 84, of Ocean View, Delaware, passed away peacefully in hospice care on July 23, 2025.

Born on April 10, 1941, in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the beloved son of Kenneth Phillips and Blair Phillips Momm. Known affectionately as Mike to his friends and as Dad and Pop Pop to his family, he was a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather.

Mike is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Patsy; his son, Michael, and daughter-in-law, Laura, of Edgewater, Maryland; and his daughter, Tammy Berry, and son-in-law, Mike, of Virginia Beach, Virginia. He cherished his four grandchildren: Andrew Phillips and fiancée Ashley Huber, Garrett Phillips and wife Elizabeth, Meagan and fiancé Colby Snyder, and grandson Michael. He is also survived by his sister, Patricia Bucheimer of Frederick, Maryland, and was preceded in death by his sister, Susan Wilkins.

Mike was known for his kind, dignified, and gentle soul. He touched the lives of many with his warmth, generosity, and quiet strength.

He grew up in Round Bay, Maryland, along the Severn River, where he developed a lifelong passion for sailing. At just 17, he won the East Coast Championship and the Chesapeake Bay Yacht Racing Association Championship while racing a National One Design sailboat. He later channeled this passion into teaching, helping develop the curriculum and managing the "Learn to Sail in a Weekend" course at the Annapolis Sailing School.

Mike enjoyed a successful career in the pharmaceutical industry with GD Searle, where he began as a young sales representative. At 28, he helped establish the company's Department of Professional Education, later advancing to District Manager and ultimately retiring as a Regional Sales Manager after more than 30 years of service.

In his later years, Mike found great joy and companionship on the golf course, especially alongside the many dear friends he made in Ocean View.

Above all, Mike was a family man whose legacy of love, integrity, and devotion will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

A funeral service will be held at Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church in Severna Park on Friday, August 1, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Mike's memory to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research or Delaware Hospice.
