Melvin Stewart Miller, 89, of Ocean View, DE, passed away at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury, MD, on June 27, 2026, surrounded by family.

Born on May 20, 1937, in Baltimore, MD, Melvin was the son of the late Jost and Florence Miller and the husband of the late Patrice H. Miller. He was the devoted father of Karen Coppage and her husband, the late Robert Coppage.

He leaves behind three grandchildren: Matthew McFadden and his wife, Francesca McFadden; Megan Coppage; and Emily Zissimos and her husband, Bradley Zissimos. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Michael, Adelina, Lucas, Ethan, Madelyn, and Regina. He also leaves behind his buddy, Milo the dog.

Melvin will be remembered for his storytelling and his service in the National Guard. He enjoyed the Eastern Shore, fishing, crabbing, boats, and cars. He worked as a pipe fitter at Western Electric on Broening Highway in Maryland and in Allentown, Pennsylvania, until he retired. He then worked for the Maryland school board of Dorchester County. Melvin was a member of the Elks in Ocean City, Maryland, as well as many other organizations. He lived a long, productive, and happy life and leaves behind memories and laughter that will be cherished forever.

No services will be held. Melvin's wishes were to be cremated. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers in his honor or make donations to the Dementia Society of America.
