Mary "Connie" Condon Nygaard, 89, of Ocean View, Delaware, formerly of Bryans Road, Maryland, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2025 at Accent Care Hospice, Wilmington Hospital, Wilmington, Delaware. She was born on May 4,1935 in Frostburg, Maryland, daughter of the late Michael A. Condon and Ethel Mae (Crowe) Condon.

Connie retired from the Charles County Maryland School system, spending most of her years at Matthew Henson Middle School where she worked with special needs children. Upon her retirement in 1998, she and her husband Lloyd moved to Delaware.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years Lloyd G. Nygaard, and her siblings Thomas Condon, Joseph Condon, Patricia Reed and brother-in-law Darvis Reed.

She is survived by her three children Celeste Douglass (Andrew) of Ocean View, Delaware, Michael Nygaard (Joann) of Stella, North Carolina and Stacy Nygaard of Millsboro, Delaware, sisters-in-law Judith Condon and Daisy Condon. Grandchildren Nicole Boring (Tim), Ann Camper (Darren), Ashly Welch (Andrew) and Brandon Nygaard. Great grandchildren Brent Boring (Megan), Jesse Boring, Desiree Boring, Lucas Welch, Lakedon Welch and great-great grandchildren Vayda, Killian and Laney Boring. As well as nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations in her name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital .

A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 17, 2024 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 35318 Church Road, Frankford, Delaware at 11:00 am with a viewing beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will immediately follow the funeral at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way Millsboro, Delaware.
