Mary McGowan Jozwick, age 42, passed away peacefully October 13, 2023, after a three-year cancer battle. May was born December 21,1980, in Washington D.C., to John and Kathy McGowan. She was raised in Waldorf, MD, graduated from St. Peter's School and St. Mary's Ryken (Leonardtown, MD). She went on to Towson University before starting her teaching career at Catonsville Elementary School, where she spent 21 years doing what she loved. She won the Baltimore County Teacher of the year in 2012. When her family moved to the Eastern Shore in 2022, she taught at Pocomoke Middle School.

May met Steve Jozwick in 2015 and it wasn't long before they were inseparable. They were married in Ocean City, MD, in September of 2017.

May is preceded in death by her brother John McGowan, in addition to her 4 grandparents and an aunt and uncle. May is survived by her husband Stephen Jozwick, her son Jack Jozwick and daughter Josephine Jozwick, her parents Jack and Kathy McGowan, her brother and wife Jimmy and Nicole McGowan, her brother and wife Joseph and Vera McGowan, her brother and wife Matthew and Sophia McGowan, parents-in-law Barb and Steve Jozwick, sister-in-law and husband Jessica and Kerry Hammonds, and her beloved cousins, nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles. All of these she loved and touched deeply.

Please join us celebrating her life Wednesday, October 18, 2023. At St. Luke's Catholic Church (9903 Coastal Hwy, Ocean City, MD 21842), a wake will be held from 10:00 a.m. — 12 Noon, followed by a Catholic funeral mass beginning at 12 noon. Interment will be held at Gate of Heaven Cemetery (32112 Vines Creek Road, Dagsboro, DE).
