Mary Elizabeth Hayes (nee Lunde), 75, of Ocean City, Maryland passed away on January 24, 2024, in Berlin, Maryland. Born on June 16, 1948, in Detroit, MI, Mary was a beloved daughter, mother, grandmother and friend.

Mary is survived by her devoted caregiver and best friend, Donna Moulton. Her son John Thomas Hayes II, her daughter Christina Lynn Davis and her six cherished grandchildren, Brian, Scott, Zach, Trey, Summer and Amanda, her remarkable father Fred Harnish Lunde who is 101 and sister Barbara Lynn Luiz.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Ida Lunde and her brother, Russ Lunde. Mary was a woman full of life and had a contagious joy that brightened every room she entered. She possessed the remarkable ability to truly listen and was known for her warm hugs that made everyone feel loved. Her infectious laughter brought smiles to the faces of those around her.

Mary served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War as a journalist. Her dedication and commitment to her country were commendable and she will always be remembered for her service.

After her military service, Mary had a fun time being a flight attendant for United Airlines. Mary went on to have a successful career at Kodak. She made valuable contributions to the company and left a lasting impact on her colleagues.

In her free time, Mary enjoyed singing and playing the guitar. Her musical talents brought joy to those who had the pleasure of hearing her perform.

A ceremony to honor and celebrate Mary's life will be held in June in Livonia, MI. Family and friends will gather to share stories, memories and pay tribute to a remarkable woman who touched the lives of so many.

Mary Elizabeth Hayes will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her memory will forever be cherished and her spirit will live on in the hearts of those whose lives she touched.
