Mark D. Mankin of Ocean View, Delaware passed away on September 27, 2026, at the age of 70.

Mark was a man you could count on. His loyalty ran deep, and his generosity was quiet and constant. He was practical, intelligent, and quick witted. A hard worker, Mark gave his all to everything he did.

He graduated from Newark High School, the University of Delaware, and Bowling Green State University. He retired from the University of Delaware after 30 years of service as a Facilities Manager, remarkably never taking a sick day. He also held various leadership roles within his church, the Jaycees, and the International Facility Management Association (IFMA).

Altruistic and service-oriented by nature, Mark found his greatest satisfaction in lending a hand to others. He was a caregiver with a kind and patient heart. Mark appreciated the simple joys in life, including music and the natural beauty of the Indian River Bay.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Jo; his children, Zach and Katie; ten grandchildren; his siblings, Lynn and James; and his niece, Maria.

Burial will be private, and a public celebration of Mark’s life will be scheduled for the spring. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Habitat for Humanity in Mark’s memory. https://www.habitat.org/
