On Tuesday, May 14, 2024, we said good-bye to a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother, Marie A. Knox. She was born to Lewis and Marella Ann Lynch Lathbury on September 1, 1915. We were honored that God gave her to us, allowing her to live on this earth for more than 108 years. Her lifetime was filled with service, hospitality and love.

She married George W. Knox on June 26, 1937 and had four children: Judith, Mary Jane, Roger and Arlene. Together they served the Lord at the Ocean View Church of Christ. They owned George W. Knox Baby Chicks & Vaccinating Services and in later years, built and operated the Summer Place Motel and Pitch & Putt, in Bethany Beach, DE. She was from Lord Baltimore's first graduating class in 1933, a nurse's aide at Beebe Hospital, and a member of Bethany Beach Volunteer Fire Company Ladies' Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Knox; parents Lewis and Marella Lathbury; daughter Judith D. Warrington; sons-in-law William B. Warrington, Jr and Charles P. Townsend, Jr; and sisters Mabel Clogg and Hazel Evans.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Mary Jane Townsend, Roger Knox (Sue), and Arlene Layton (Bruce); 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 24 great-great grandchildren. Three more blessings are to arrive very soon. Including the spouses, the family is numbered at 100+. She celebrated each birth and enjoyed having her picture taken with the babies and the generations. Her love was unconditional and her heart was gracious. Her desire for us was to love everybody and to be obedient and faithful to the Lord.
