Margarite Ann [Ponzio] Hudson (1930 – 2024)

After a short illness, Margarite A. "Marge" Hudson passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2024, in Hampton Roads, Virginia.

Born and raised in South Philadelphia, she and her husband, John H. "Jack" Hudson of 63 years moved to Ocean View, DE after retirement.  She worked as a bookkeeper/controller for several paper and printing companies in Philadelphia and was past president of Philadelphia's Women in Graphic Arts (1972-1974) as well as a member of the American Federation of Women's Organizations.

As a young woman, she was an avid roller skater wining a bronze medal for dance skating as well as being a member of the Roller-skating Rink Association of America.

In Ocean View, she was a committed member of the AARP (Local 5226), a charter member of the AARP Chorus, and a previous chair for the Bethany Beach 4th of July Parade.  In addition, she was a member of the local chapter of the "Red Hat Society," committed member of the Friends of the South Coastal Library, and hostess and coordinator for the Beach Cottage Tour.   She was a member of the Parish of St. Ann, Bethany Beach, DE.

She is survived by a son, Brother William Hudson, FSC of the Order of Christian Brothers; a daughter Maria Marsella and her husband, Colonel (ret) Nicholas Marsella of Yorktown, VA; four grandchildren, Nicholas and his wife Melanie of Pittsburgh, PA; Rachel and her husband James Scholz of Beavertown OR; Matthew and his wife Emily of Wilmington, DE, and Jennifer of Newport News, VA and a great grandson Jonathan.

A proud Philadelphian, she maintained close ties with her family but especially to her three sisters – Rita [Montanaro], Marie [Arrington], and a surviving sister Rosemary and brother-in-law Jack Robinson of Glen Mills, PA as well as nephews Michael (Barbara) and Mark (Letica) Arrington.

A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, 9 July at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalope Roman Catholic Church, 35318 Church Rd., Frankford, DE. Friends may call from 10:00 am to 11:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro, DE.
