Margaret (Marge) Mary Main, age 87 of Long Neck, DE passed away peacefully at home on April 30, 2025.

Marge was born on June 3, 1937 in Manhattan, NY, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Mathias.  There she lived and grew up later to meet her future husband Thomas (Tommy) James Main, Jr. following the end of the Korean War where he had served in the U.S. Army. They were married on her birthday June 3, 1956, and resided in Brooklyn, NY until 1964 at which time they were relocated to Wilmington, DE by Tommy's employer E.I. DuPont.

Marge was a long-time employee of Chase Manhattan Bank until she retired from there in 1999. Marge and Tommy resided in the Wilmington area until 2020 when they relocated to Long Neck in southern DE.

Marge and Tommy raised four daughters, Kim, Susan, Jeanee and Lygia who gave them 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.  Marge (Mom/Mom Mom/Grammy) loved to sit around and talk with all of them, passing time by wanting to know how everyone was doing. She so loved family get-togethers and holiday gatherings being around all her kids at all age levels. She was a fantastic cook and loved making those big family traditional meals when she was hosting and her world-famous breakfast for those visiting and staying the night. Also some of Marge's favorite things to do were shopping with her daughters and going to brunch. She was tech savvy and very comfortable using her phone and computer for everything from communication to shopping and entertainment. She loved FaceTiming with her daughters to catch up or just hanging around watching her favorite shows and politics.  She was always up for the big get-togethers, the more the merrier and the louder the better.  That was the New York in her.   She left the city but the city never left her.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Thomas (Tommy) James Main, Jr. of 65 years; brothers Joseph Mathias, Jr. and Harold Mathias; and dearest great-granddaughter Riley Wren Chapman.

Marge is survived by her daughters Kim (Paul) Shimp of Warrenton, Virginia, Susan Anderson of Middletown, DE, Jeanee Hanyok (Chris) of Harbeson, DE, Lygia (Mark) deWit of Middletown, DE; grandchildren Melanie Wright, Brandon Shimp (Theresa), Clayton Houser (Brandy), Denise Anderson, Bryan Shimp (Kate), Todd Anderson, Eric Riley (Megan), Tara Chapman (Shawn), Justin deWit, Jeremy deWit, Madison Hanyok; great-grandchildren Cierra, Colin, Austin, Luke, Dylan, Jackson, Carter, Scarlett, Sophia, Harper, Annie and Cade; and several nieces and nephews who reside throughout the country.

A private memorial service will be held with the family to celebrate Marge's life.
