Louis Raymond Smith, age 86, of Millsboro, DE formerly of Baltimore, MD passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes, DE.

Lou was born in Baltimore, MD on March 18, 1938 son of the late Louis Raymond Smith and the late Marie Madeline (Zaydel) Smith.  He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1961-1963.  Lou worked and retired from Bethlehem Steel after 42 years of service as a steelworker.

Lou and his wife, Lavonda enjoyed traveling and walking however he loved spending his time with his family above all else.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Marie Moore.  Lou is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Lavonda (Sherbert) Smith; two children, Tony Smith of York, PA and Elizabeth Crandell and her husband, Jim of Stewartstown, PA; four grandsons, Benji Smith, Anthony Smith, James Crandell and his wife, Brooke and Mason Crandell and two great grandsons, Rowan and Rhett Crandell.

A celebration of his life is being planned at Lighthouse Baptist Church in Lewes.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Lou's name to the American Heart Association.
