Louis Joseph Iaquinta

December 29, 1940 – March 17, 2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Louis (Lou) J. Iaquinta, a loving husband, father, uncle, and grandfather who passed away peacefully on March 17, 2025 at the age of 84. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sue Iaquinta and his two beautiful children Susie Fleming (Jimmy) and Regina Kennedy (Grafton) and his beloved grandchildren Luke and Lily Fleming.

Lou was born on December 29, 1940 in Philadelphia, PA to Frank and Marie Iaquinta. He graduated from Pierce School in 1961 with a degree in Business Administration. He married the love of his life Susan Ingram in 1969 and celebrated 56 wonderful years of marriage.

Work

Lou moved to Washington D.C. to work with his cousin, Jimmy Ellis at the AJ Construction Company in 1960 to install gas pipelines in the growing metro area. He later followed his passion of real estate joining Century 21 and was soon promoted to Manager / Asst. Vice President of Operations.

He incorporated his own business, IKO Real Estate, in 1980 after many years in the construction business developing more than 3,000 acres of land into numerous residential and commercial communities.

Some of his most notable projects included the Oland Professional Center in Olney, MD and a development in Brunswick, MD which was his largest development and project achievement. In 1996, he established the Property Management Division of IKO to maintain his tradition of high standards in the day to day management of his communities.

Community Service/Charity:

Lou served on the hospital board of directors at Med Star Montgomery Medical Center, President Olney Chamber of Commerce and was a Community Activist and part of the Greater Olney Civic Association (Olney, Brunswick). Additionally, he:

·       Led Muscular Dystrophy Jerry Lewis Telethon as the regional coordinator (1976-1990).

·       Chaired two capital campaigns for Comprehensive Cancer Program at Medstar Montgomery Medical Center.

·       Organized Wounded Warrior Projects for veterans

·       Supported and helped organize the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life of Olney walk in 2004 with his daughter, raising awareness and funds for cancer research and programs in their community.

A Celebration of Life for Lou will be held on Friday, May 2 at 2pm at the Melson Funeral Services, 38040 Muddy Neck Road, Ocean View, Delaware, 19970.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the two hospitals that provided exceptional care for Lou during his cancer journey.
