Loretta Brooks, 84, Millsboro, DE passed away on April 26, 2023 at home after a lengthy battle with Dementia.

Loretta was born on February 13, 1939 to John and Elizabeth Young in Wilkes Barre, PA.

Loretta was a natural leader; some might say bossy. This contributed to her professional success as a Supervisor at Kiwi Shoe Polish, retiring after 30 years.

Loretta had an amazing gift in the kitchen. To fulfill her passion for cooking, she worked in her spare time coordinating and cooking for events at local social clubs. Suiting her servant heart, it was well known that if you came to visit her, she would cook you a meal and she would not take no for an answer.

Loretta took this gift with her into her retirement years as she landed on finding her church home and family at Oak Orchard Community Church. She not only dedicated her life to the Lord but to serving in the kitchen and the community. She also shared her gift of her beautiful voice by singing in the choir. You would often find her with sheets of music in front of her practicing her solo piece for Sunday service. She loved to sing so much that towards the end of her battle when she could not remember her words to speak, she would somehow remember the words to sing along to her favorite songs.

Loretta was not one to miss a social event and had the opportunity to attend many events as well as travel while being a member of the Red Hat Society. She took the dress code very seriously and owned too many red hats to count!

Loretta shared 39 years of marriage with her devoted Husband, Norman E. Brooks. They both worked very hard towards the goal of retiring and moving to Delaware over 20 years ago to start new family traditions at the beach. One of the most memorable traditions was known as "Mom – Mom's week" where she dedicated a week to having her Grandchildren all to herself at the beach, with a little help from her sister, her Best Friend Emily.

Loretta is predeceased by her ex-husband, Gerald R. Thomas with whom she raised 5 children. Loretta is survived by her Husband, Norman, children Donna Brightbill (Robert), Corrine High (Kent), Cory Scott (JoAnne), Thomas and Mary Alice Bronico (John), Grandchildren Krysta, Kelly, Bobbi Jo, Kourtney, Torri, Sara, Paige, Brooke, Cori, Taylor, Tommy Jr, Jake and Ben, Sister Emily Madonna (Nick) as well as beloved Great Grandchildren, Great-Great Grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Family and friends are welcome to attend a Celebration of Life which will be held at Oak Orchard Community Church on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at 11am. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Oak Orchard Community Church.
