Lorah Franklin Hickman, 96, of Frankford, Delaware passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026 at the Delaware Veterans Home in Milford, Delaware. He was born on January 2, 1930, in Berlin, Maryland to Alice and Franklin Hickman.

Lorah grew up as an only child and carried that self-reliance throughout his life. He graduated from Buckingham High School before answering his country's call, serving honorably in the United States Army. During his service, he was stationed in Hawaii, where he played baseball—a chapter of his life that reflected both his character and love of the game.

He married the love of his life, Delthia Townsend, in 1953, building a partnership defined by steadiness, adventure, and deep devotion. Together they raised their only daughter, Teresa, and filled their years with golf, travel, and a close circle of cherished family and friends. Their faith was the foundation beneath all of it, and Lorah and Delthia were devoted, longtime members of Saint George's Methodist Church. Beyond the fairway and the family table, he was a man of the outdoors, finding equal joy in hunting, fishing, beekeeping, and the steady work of a garden. Lorah dedicated his professional life to public service with the Delaware State Highway Department, leaving a literal mark on the roads and infrastructure of the state he called home.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Alice and Franklin Hickman, and his beloved wife, Delthia. He is survived by his daughter, Tess Doyle; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Ragen Benavides (Luis), Rhodes Benavides, Rylie Pohl (Charlie), and Liliana Pohl.

A private ceremony will be held for close family.
