Lois J. Lathbury, age 85, of Frankford, DE went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 7, 2025, while surrounded by her loving family in the comfort of her own home.

Lois was born in Wilmington, DE on August 19, 1939 daughter of the late Roland Bernard Smith and the late Martha Deliha (Freeman) Smith.  She was a graduate of Newark High School, Class of 1957.

Shortly after graduation, she went to work for the DuPont Company for 25 years.  Lois then decided to go to beauty school, and, after completing her courses, she became an instructor at the school for several years.  After moving to Sussex County in the mid 1980's, she opened her own beauty parlor, Shear Style in Ocean View, DE, which she operated from 1985 until 1995.

Lois was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of Millville United Methodist Church.  She loved to dance and cook big meals for her family.  Lois also enjoyed boating and going to the pool.  Above all else, she loved her time spent with her two great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Susan Charter and brother-in-law, Walter Lathbury.  She is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Frank E. Lathbury; a son, Jody Sweetman of Frankford, DE; a grandson, Joshua Sweetman and his wife, Katie of Frankford, DE and her two beloved great grandchildren, Olivia and Jett Sweetman, both of Frankford, DE.  Lois is also survived by her sister, Ruth Ann Sagers of Ocean View, DE; a brother, Joseph Lawton of Millville, DE; a special niece, Ruthie Gears and her husband, Bob, of Frankford, DE, and several other nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held from 10-11 AM on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Frankford Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 43 Thatcher St., Frankford, DE 19945, with a funeral service beginning at 11 AM.  Interment will be held privately at Mariner's Bethel Cemetery in Ocean View, DE.
