Lisa Hammond Read, age 61 of Delmar died on September 1, 2026 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on September 30, 1964 in Seaford, DE to the late William A. Hammond Sr. and Joan Helen Conner, Lisa was a lifelong Delawarean and 1981 graduate of Indian River High School. Lisa served as a longtime employee at Indian River School District as a food service worker and member of the Millville Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.

In addition to her parents Lisa is preceded in death by her siblings William A. Hammond Jr. and Kathy Reinhart. Lisa is survived by her son Richard William Thomas and his partner Ashley Cannon of Fort Myers, FL along with her sisters Karen Massey (Dale) of Seaford, DE; Nancy Trice (Ron) of Seaford, DE; John Kenneth Hammond (Eileen) of Lewes, DE. Lisa also leaves behind one granddaughter and her ex-husband and friend Rick Thomas of Frankford, DE.

A memorial service will be held on a later date at the Millville Volunteer Fire Company, Station 1.
