Linwood L. Banks, age 75, of Frankford, Delaware, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, December 24, 2025.

Linwood was born on March 25, 1950, the son of the late Preston Lee Banks and Louise (Collins) Banks. He was a proud member of the first graduating class of Indian River High School, Class of 1970.  Linwood also proudly served his country as a member of the Delaware National Guard, a testament to his strong sense of duty and service.

A skilled and dedicated tradesman, Linwood worked as an electrician for Warren Banks, served as an assembler for National Cash Register, and briefly owned his own electrical business. He later joined Delmarva Power, where he devoted 25 years of faithful service before retiring. His strong work ethic and reliability earned him the respect of colleagues and friends alike.

Linwood will be fondly remembered for his gentle, loving nature and his unwavering devotion to his beloved wife, Ellen, who preceded him in death in 2014. Their bond was one of deep love and companionship that endured throughout his life. A man of faith, Linwood found peace and guidance in reading his Bible daily, and he held a special fondness for the state of Tennessee, which brought him comfort and joy.

In addition to his parents and his beloved wife, Linwood was preceded in death by five siblings: Barbara Hall, George Banks, William Banks, Jane Workman, and Blaine Banks.

He is survived by his seven loving siblings: Patricia Smallwood; Doris Franklin; Linda Griffin and her husband, Alex; Jerry Banks and his wife, Bonnie; Dene Robbins and her husband, Jimmy; Cindy Rogers and her husband, Ralph; and Tammy Hudson and her husband, Kim. Linwood is also lovingly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and a wide circle of extended family and friends who will cherish his memory.

Linwood's quiet strength, faithful heart, and kind spirit will be remembered always by those who were blessed to know and love him.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 5, 2026, at the Frankford Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 43 Thatcher Street, Frankford, Delaware 19945. Friends and family may gather for visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Mariner's Bethel Cemetery in Ocean View, Delaware.
