Leonard Matthew Calabro, 81, joined his beloved parents Len and Mildred and his sister, Julie, Friday, November 8th in Millsboro, DE.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Ruth; and his children, Deborah, Robert and Kim; and his five grandchildren Alexandra, Hayden, Morgan, Ava and Anthony.

Len graduated in 1965 from Drexel University, Philadelphia, with a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering.  He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1971.   His singular genius for math and logic led to a long employment in engineering and systems management with the U.S. government and private industry.  He retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 1997 after a career that included work in Frankfurt, Germany and throughout the states.  Len received numerous honors and accolades over that time, and even designed and coded his own personally tailored web browser.

Len's keen analytic mind spurred his lifelong interest in all things calculation and statistical.  He was most in his element figuring odds and playing long shots at the racetrack and the casino.  But Len also had an artistic side, which he expressed through verse in numerous poems he composed over the years.  His dry wit and astute political insight will be greatly missed.

A celebration of Len's life will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at the Long Neck Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 32013 Long Neck Rd., Millsboro, DE, where friends and family may visit after 10 AM.  Interment will be held privately.
