Kevin DeWeir Braswell, age 61, of Selbyville, Delaware, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2026.

Born on May 3, 1965, in Manassas, Virginia, Kevin was the son of the late Welca DeWeir Braswell and Lee Fair Braswell. He graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School in 1983.

Kevin dedicated many years of service to Sussex Correctional Institution. Throughout his career, he also worked as an assistant manager at Chesapeake Bay Seafood House and R.J. Bentley’s restaurants. He will be remembered as an exceptional cook who mastered the art of grilling and smoking. Kevin found great joy in preparing meals and sharing them with family, friends, coworkers, and countless guests, often feeding hundreds of people both at home and at work.

An avid outdoorsman, Kevin loved hunting and fishing. His faithful dog, Amy, was his constant companion and was rarely far from his side. Kevin worked hard and enjoyed life to the fullest. He was known for his honesty, loyalty, and strong character, and he valued those same qualities in the people closest to him.

In addition to his parents, Kevin was preceded in death by his sisters, Bonnie, Laurie, and brother Jaimie. He is survived by his brother, Robert, and Marie, his wife.

Friends and family may gather starting at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August, 1, 2026 at the Frankford Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 43 Thatcher Street, Frankford, DE 19945. A celebration of life will begin at 2 p.m.
