June E. Stafford, age 90, of Frankford, Delaware, formerly of Maryland, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, July 20, 2026.

Born in Olney, Maryland, on December 20, 1935. June was the beloved daughter of the late George Townsend and Dorothy (Brown) Townsend. She was a proud graduate of the Maryland School for the Deaf, Class of 1955, where she excelled as a basketball player and formed many lifelong friendships.

June dedicated 20 years of service to Hecht’s Department Stores, working in logistics and warehouse supply operations prior to her retirement. She was a longtime member of the Silent Orioles Club of the Deaf and enjoyed the camaraderie and friendships it provided throughout the years.

June found beauty in the simple pleasures of life. She loved spending time outdoors watching birds and butterflies, enjoyed a good card game, and treasured the moments she shared with family and friends. A true free spirit, June was known for her fiery personality and spitfire nature. She was strong-willed, independent, and never afraid to speak her mind. Her wit, determination, and lively spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.

Above all else, June's greatest joy was her family. Nothing made her happier than gathering with the people she loved, creating memories, sharing stories, and celebrating life's special moments together. The more family that surrounded her, the happier she was. Her love, guidance, and unwavering devotion to those she cherished will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Ronald C. “Ronnie” Stafford, Jr.

She is survived by her daughter, Candy Schrecengost and her husband, Rick, of Frankford, Delaware; her son, Gregory Stafford and his wife, Tanya, of Tea, South Dakota; four grandchildren, Trinity, Autumn, Troy, and Chloé; four great-grandchildren, Gabe, Skylar, Gracie, and Alena; and her brother, George Townsend.
