It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph Francis McHugh in the morning of April 9th, 2025. Joseph, Joe to those closest to him, will be forever remembered fondly by all who were privileged enough to know him as an unbelievably kindhearted man who was always quick with a joke, fiercely loyal to his friends and family, honest to a fault, supportive beyond any words, and immeasurably selfless.

Born to Patrick Joseph McHugh and Catherine Walsh on March 19th, 1946, Joe grew up in the Mayfair section of Philadelphia. He was a veteran of the United States Army who served as an active duty member in Taiwan during the Vietnam Conflict from 1965 to 1967, and as a reserve member until 1971. Joe was a longstanding member of the Philadelphia Police Department from May 24th, 1971 until he retired on June 1st, 2005, he proudly earned the prestigious rank of Lieutenant during his tenure.

He is survived by his wife of 45 wonderful years Judith, sons Joseph and Patrick, daughter Jennifer, son-in-law Nicholas Dobrowolski, grandson Christian Dobrowolski, sister Patricia Florkowski, brother Edward McHugh, as well as an abundant number of of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
