Joseph M. Alperstein, age 92, of Rehoboth Beach, DE formerly of Long Beach, NY and Rockville Centre, NY passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at The Moorings in Lewes, DE.

Joe was born in Manhattan, NY on December 3, 1931 son of the late Louis Alperstein and the late Florence (Kissin) Alperstein.  He proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard while stationed in Cape May, NJ.

Joe was a sports fan especially of the New York Mets, Jets and Knicks.  He enjoyed the simple things of life, from going to the beach, fishing, playing ping pong and his beloved McDonald's Filet-O-Fish sandwich.  Joe loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his blended family especially the grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Liv Alperstein in 2006 and a sister, Elinor Krieger.  Joe is survived by his two children, Steven Alperstein and his wife, Dawn and Lynn Corrigan and her husband, Thomas; two stepsons, Lloyd Ritter and Eric Ritter and his wife, Mika; four grandchildren, Michael Alperstein and his wife, Jackie, Andrew Corrigan and his wife, Jingwen, Laurie Coletti and her husband, Jim and Lauren Corrigan and five great grandchildren, Hannah Corrigan, Julianna Coletti, Jeanna Corrigan, Parker Coletti and Rylan Alperstein.  Joe is also survived by five step grandchildren, Nina Ritter, Noah Ritter, Mia Ritter, Peter Desiderio and his wife, Elana and Ashley Santos; three step greatgrandchildren, Lorenzo Santos, Sofia Desiderio and Emily Desiderio and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Joseph's life will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at the Ocean View Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 38040 Muddy Neck Rd., Ocean View, DE 19970, where friends and family may gather after 10:30 AM.
