John S. Slemko, age 95, of Millsboro, Delaware, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 15th, at home surrounded by his family.

Born in Chester, Pa, he graduated from Chester High School in 1949 and later from Pennsylvania Military College.

John retired from Boeing Helicopters in 1992 as an Industrial Engineer. During his tenure he provided technical assistance to the Spanish Ministry of Defense, in Madrid, Spain. John also conducted management studies in area hospitals in the development of performance criteria for measuring and improving operational effectiveness in numerous hospitals including Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Riddle Memorial Hospital and Beebe Hospital.

As a Korean War Veteran, he served with the distinguished U.S. Navy Patrol Squadron Six in the Far-East. Patrol Squadron Six acquired the name "Blue Sharks" as a result of a feature story in Colliers magazine during the Korean War.

John was past commander of DelVets Wilmington, Post No. 1 and a member of the American Legion Post 28 in Sussex County Delaware.

John loved handicapping horses, frequenting the casino and playing poker. He is survived by his long-time companion Phyllis Krenzer, of 40 years, daughters, Deborah L. McNeal (Larry), Lisa L. Guerrieri (Andre) sons Stephen J. Slemko (Suk) and Michael J. Slemko, seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren and his sister Sonja W. Kravchuk.

Burial will be private.
