John Ernest Slaughter, 78, of Frankford, Delaware, formerly of Ridley Park, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 26, 2026, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes, Delaware.

Born on March 23, 1948, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, John was the son of the late Ernest Warren Slaughter and the late Eileen Evelyn (Weir) Slaughter.

John was the owner of J. E. Slaughter Siding, Inc., where he worked as a self-employed roofing and siding contractor for more than 40 years. Through his hard work, dedication, and commitment to quality, he built not only a successful business but also lasting relationships with customers and friends.

A lifelong Philadelphia sports fan, John passionately cheered for his beloved Phillies and Eagles. He was an antique car enthusiast who also enjoyed surf fishing whenever he had the chance. Above all, John cherished his family. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, a wonderful father, grandfather, and uncle and a man whose quick wit and playful sense of humor brought smiles to those around him. His practical jokes and lighthearted spirit will be fondly remembered by family and friends.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Ernest Slaughter and his beloved sister, Joanne Martin.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Kathy Ann (Seamen) Slaughter; his three children, Sharon Slaughter Wallman and her husband, Evan , of Pahoa, Hawaii, Ernie Slaughter of Ridley Park, Pennsylvania, and Amanda Jo Esrey and her partner, Kief Bruckart of Ridley Park, Pennsylvania; his three grandchildren, Ocean Parkinson of Everett, Washington, Sierra Merritt of Wilmington, North Carolina, and Naia Jo Perry of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; his sister, Eileen MacDonald of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and sister-in-law Linda Jo Starecheski of Ridley Park, Pennsylvania; six nieces and nephews, twelve grand- nieces and nephews, and one great-grand-niece.

A celebration of John’s life will be held at Cavanagh Funeral Home, 301 Chester Pike, Norwood, Pennsylvania 19074 on July 18, 2026 at 10:30 A.M. with a service at 11:00 A.M. There will be a luncheon at the Lazaretto Ballroom following the service.
