John Sewell Shrieves, Jr., age 75, of Salisbury, MD passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, February 10, 2025 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury, MD.

John was born in Salisbury on September 18, 1949 son of the late John Sewell Shrieves, Sr. and the late Evelyn (Toomey) Shrieves.  He worked for over 50 years as head of maintenance at Salisbury Nursing Home.

John will be remembered as a man that had a great sense of humor and who enjoyed playing pranks on his family and friends.  He found joy in the simple pleasures of life from, collecting M&M's memorabilia, going fishing and camping with family and friends at Roaring Point Campground where countless memories were made.  John had a profound love for animals especially his dogs, Peanut and Baby and his two cats, Smokey and Tubby.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of over 50 years, Brenda "Bren" Jean Shrieves who passed away in November of 2024 and two brothers, Walter William Shrieves and Gary Lee Shrieves.  He will be remembered as a loving father to his two children, a John "Jay Sewell Shrieves, III and his wife, Debbie and his daughter, Tammy Lynn Applegate.  John will also be remembered as a beloved grandfather to his six grandchildren, Kyle Shrieves, Kristi Johnson, Amber Palma, Aaron Applegate, Ronnie Gale and Lyndsey Ames and a great grandfather to 13 wonderful grandchildren.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Faith Baptist Church of Delmar, 1207 E. State St., Delmar, MD 21875, where a funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM.  Interment will follow at Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron, MD.
