John Richard "Dick" Hagan, 80, of Millsboro, DE, passed away on December 1, 2023. He was born on October 27, 1943, in Wilmington, DE. Dick was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

Dick is survived by his wife of 49 years, Gail Buckwalter Hagan, his daughter Melissa Hagan-Alves and her husband Rui Alves, his sons Jonathan and Christopher Hagan, his sisters Barbara Anne Hagan, and Patricia Dumas and his grandchildren Zaria and Baraka Alves. He was preceded in death by his mother Teresa Cummings Hagan, his father James A Hagan Sr., his siblings Marie Therese Hagan, Anne Marie Hagan, Kathleen Hagan, James A Hagan Jr., Joan Pawlowicz, Suzanne Covelli, Elizabeth Nacci, Thomas Hagan, and William Hagan.

Dick received his education from St. Anne's School, Salesianum School, and the University of Delaware. He proudly served his country as a member of the Delaware National Guard.

Throughout his career, Dick taught History at Salesianum School, owned three childcare centers and authored a book titled "Breaking Down Fences." He was passionate about teaching the history of baseball and politics.  Anyone who knew him got a dose of his dry Irish humor.

Dick Hagan will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His legacy will live on through his family, friends, and the countless lives he touched.  Funeral services will be held at a later date.
