John Wesley Carroll, Jr, of Frankford, DE, passed away on April 16th, 2026 after a valiant battle with cancer. He was 70.

John was born on November 28, 1955 to the late Dorothy and John Carroll Sr.

John was preceded in death by his parents and his eldest son, John Charles Carroll.

John is survived by his wife of 23 years, Vongphet Inyavong Carroll; their son: Nicholas Carroll; his son Mark (Rachel) Carroll; and his daughter: Laura (Jon) Victor. He was a proud grandfather of six: Keera, Jadyn, Jude, Ivy, Charlie, and Noelle. John also left behind his loving and faithful dog Pancake.

John spent his childhood in his hometown of Ridgely, Maryland before enlisting with the United States army at 17 years of age in July of 1973. John went through basic training at Fort Dix, advanced training at Fort Polk, and overseas service training at Camp Howze. He was deployed to Korea in 1974 where he reached the rank of Specialist 4 and received the Army Commendation Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Korea Defense Service Medal.

After being discharged from the army in 1976, John began his career as an industrial electrician. He was known by his children to be a man who could fix anything, and by his coworkers as the man to be called when things hit the fan. He credited his time as a military grunt with giving him his tireless work ethic and unending patience. John loved a cold beer and a corny joke; grilling outside while having a cigarette and a few laughs; quality time spent surrounded by family.

An interment ceremony will be held on Friday, May 8th at 2 PM at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro, Delaware. A reception will follow over the weekend at the family home in Frankford.
