Jeanne Marie Sowieralski

(October 29, 1930 – December 21, 2023)

Jeanne Marie Sowieralski, age 93, of Selbyville, DE passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2023 surrounded by her family.

Jeanne was a sweet, kind, caring person and a devoted wife to Richard.  She worked at Teleflex for over a decade in purchasing. She enjoyed traveling, family gatherings, dancing and was an avid reader over the years with always a book by her side.  She was true to her faith always involved in the church volunteering for St. Vincent de Paul Society. She was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and once won a trip to Ireland. She was a loving mother to us and was an international mother to her extended family in Ghana.

Jeanne lived at Brandywine Living at Fenwick Island for 10 years.  Many thanks to all the aides, nurses and a special thanks to Eileen who was always watching out for both our parents while they lived there.

Jeanne was born in Abington, PA on October 29, 1930 son of the late Joseph Patrick Mahoney and Catherine Murphy Mahoney. She is preceded in death by her husband Richard, son John and her sister Margaret Updyke. She is survived by her sister, Nancy Liberto and many nieces and nephews.  Jeanne is survived by 5 children, Susan Ondish of Rehoboth Beach, DE, Richard P. Sowieralski, Jr. and his wife, Betsy of Washington, Thomas Sowieralski and his wife, Vicki of Millsboro, Jean Sowieralski Dunn and her husband Michael of Millsboro and Joan Mensah and her husband, Thaddeus of New Jersey.  She has five grandchildren, Sean Ondish and his wife, Christa, David Ondish and his wife, Pamela, Michael Ondish and his wife, Mackenzie, Lauren Plover and her husband, Joseph and Luke Sowieralski and great grandchildren Tyler and Carter Ondish, Lila Ondish, Remi Plover.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at St. Edmond Catholic Church, 409 King Charles Ave., Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971. Internment will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 29, 2023 at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 3301 W. Cheltenham Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19150.

In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made in Jeanne's memory to St. Vincent de Paul Society c/o St. Edmond Catholic Church, PO Box 646, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.
