Beatrice "Jean" (Colaiuta) McGinty of Bethany Beach Delaware, formerly of Havertown, PA, age 93, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, January 25, 2025 surrounded by her children and loved ones. She was born in Elizabeth, NJ on June 5, 1931. Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years Ben McGinty, her parents, Anthony and Catherine Colaiuta, her sister Betty (Colaiuta) DiPaolo, and her brother Anthony Colaiuta. Jean is survived by her children and their spouses; Joanne Brusich (Joe), Ben McGinty Jr (Patricia), Jack McGinty (Connie), Brian McGinty (Mary Fay), Catherine Dillon (Leo), Mike McGinty (Barb), Jeannie Farrell (Bill). Jean is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Jean was raised in Ardmore, PA and graduated from Lower Merion High School in 1949. She was an excellent student and a superb athlete. In her high school yearbook was a quote, "Open season for sports". Most notably, Jean was the High School Captain of the Varsity Tennis Team. After high school Jean graduated from the Taylor School of Business. She was a bank teller at First Pennsylvania Bank, Purchasing Administrator at the Philadelphia Chewing Gum Corporation, Purchasing Office Manager at the West Philadelphia Community Mental Health Center, and Security Specialist at General Electric Aerospace Division. Jean loved tennis and when she retired in 1992, she became a certified tennis instructor. She also enjoyed fishing, boating, quilting, and spending time with her friends and family. Jean was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved spending time with her family at her home in Bethany Beach.

The light in Jean's life dimmed somewhat with the passing of her high school sweetheart and beloved husband of 70 years, Ben, in 2021, but now they will be reunited in eternity.

Family and friends are invited to attend Jean's visitation on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, 10-10:50 a.m. at Saint Ann Parish Church, 691 Garfield Parkway, Bethany Beach, DE (we request young children and infants not attend) followed by her mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. Internment will immediately follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 32112 Vines Creek Road, Dagsboro, DE, 19939. Luncheon following conclusion of burial service.
